Default Hitching a ride (reef pretty back)

Okay, so I ordered some scarlet reef hermit crabs from eTropicals last
week and they arrived today. One of the little guys (about the size of
my thumbnail) has a hitchhiker - he's got what looks like a 3/4" tall
hard coral growing on his shell!

Here are some photos (warning - they're freakin' HUGE for the detail):

I'm not sure how he's getting around with all that weight, but he does.
It's pretty funny watching him walk around with this little miniature
tree on his back.

Regards,

That's pretty cool! Reminds me of buying a scarlet crab at a LFS. I saw
one in the tank that I just had to have and made the guy dig it out of the
back of the tank for me. Had a beautiful shell on it. Got it home and put
it in my tank. Wasn't even a half hour later the crab changed shells. Talk
about my luck :-/

Yes crabs are not interested in how pretty the shell is,
but how comfortable it is, And a shell with a lot of
growth on it is not as comfortable as a plain shell, so
they usually dich them for a more comfortable shell.
