Tennent Tang Diet? (dot tang fish back carolina)

Hi all, I have added a tennent tang to the aquarium, and he/she spits out
everything he/she eats. The fish is happy and active and mouths almost
everything, but spits it all back out. I have tried Seaweed Selects Green
Marine Algae, Formual Two flakes, and even some seaweed I got at the Korean
Market down the road (I figured if its good enough for me...) Can anyone
offer any suggestions? I got this fish assuming I'd be able to find lots of
info on it, like you can with a LOT of other tangs, but info has been
scarce, to say the least.

brine shrimp. Mostly the first three

It must be very hard for them to find this stuff in
the vast oceans I am surprised they survived in there ;-)

BTW - have you tried live marine algae already?
Something like widely available red or green gracilaria,
ulva sp., caulerpa - other various species of "feeder algae"?

Feeding terrestial plants long term to marine animals
is just asking for troubles... it is a different
food chain - not all "green stuff" is the same...

less than 8 pounds, I find it difficult to picture her running down wild board
in her native environment.

changes w ith R/O, adding more live rock, etc)

Could this be lack of correct grub for the "Lieutenant Tang?"

I would rather check some online sources growing algae in Florida.
They can send you a bunch or two and you can throw it into your
lighted sump/refugium and have a constant supply of fresh food
for your fish. There is also a product called "Tangs Heaven".
This is a mixture of 2 or 3 species of live algae for you to use
as direct feeding or to start your own culture if you have room
to do it in the sump/refugium. If not, at least during the summer
you can just keep the algae in an aerated tub in your backyard
under the Sun and when winter arrives you can order more for feeding.

The scientific name of Lieutenant Tangs is Acanthurus Tennentii, so they are
some times called Tennent Tangs.
