94 camry strange brake behaviour
The parking braking is applied via a cable linkage and the shoes in
the drum are returned with a spring. If you have a disk in the rear
then I would guess the same applies, however I have never owned a car
with rear discs. Water in the brake lines was a factory problem on
the '97 camry and has a recall for this condition. Brake fluid is
hydroscopic, so in otherwords it likes moisture. The system should be
sealed, but if you are getting moisture into the system, then that
could be a big problem (leaks somewhere). I agree with the suggestion
regarding moisture in the lines, but you stated the parking lever lamp
is coming on. I would do some research or get a Haynes manual and
determine what triggers this lamp (i.e. in the lever position or at
the brakes). You might have a faulty parking brake lever or snag
along the cable. To remove the parking brake lever, you just have to
apply enough force to overcome the elastic energy so that you can
remove the keeper from spur, so the lever shouldn't be a function of
frozen lines.
