Default Camry question

I understand that Hayward Toyota in San Francisco
is selling new automatic Camrys (2006 LE's) for $16,999.
They say they have about 20 of them, but color
selection is limited.

That price is only $900 more than the $16,100 I've
negotiated for a Corolla LE at my local dealership in
Missouri.

Should I fly out to San Francisco while the sale
is going on, and buy a Camry?

Is Hayward a good dealership? Do you think I'll
really get a brand new Camry that's in excellent condition
for that price?

Would anyone know of other dealerships selling Camry's
at similar prices?

It almost seems to good to be true.

Thanks.

Default Camry question

I was negotiating the local dealer when I bought my new 2001 Tundra. I had
to take delivery before the end of the month, appx 1 or 1-1/2 weeks away, to
get a $1000 discount. I did one of the internet car quotes and got a bid
from a dealer in an adjoining state, appx 2 hours away, for quite a bit less
than the local dealer. When I told the local, they said the remote dealer
was "low-balling" me and I would lose my discount if I waited too long. They
offered to call remote dealer to prove it, I declined and called myself.
When I talked to salesman at the remote dealer he verbally confirmed the
quote I had been given. I told him I was recording our conversation and if
he was low-balling me I would sue them for any losses. He put me on hold so
he could "check on something". He came back and told me he was sorry but
they had sold the last Tundra they had available at that price. I doubt I
could have benefitted financially if they had screwed me around due to
different state, distance and admissability of a recorded telephone
conversation but the threat did make them get honest.
You might want to try this with Hayward. You could also call the BBB or
Chamber of Commerce in their city to check on them. Or someone may respond
here with info.
