Default Highlander Hybrids

Hey, I apologize if this is an old subject, but I am looking at a
Toyota Highlander Hybrid. What is the "real world" mileage going to be
on the 4 wheel drive and the 2 wheel drive?
I am debating whether to get rid of my Honday Pilot, which has been a
great vehicle.
Thanks,
Fred

Don't know the real mileage but from what I have read, unless you
really need a vehicle that the payback is some years.

If the Pilot is still good, I'd just wait a bit til the Highlander is
out a while. (mine is an 02) I have heard that the hybrid is very
surprisingly fast however.

I doubt that makes sense. YOu lose alot trading in a vehicle thats a
few years old if it's in great condition.

Then you turn around and pay top $ for a new one.

It probably doesn't make sense to buy the hybrid over the regular
highlander in an economic sense.

Say a HH is 30 mpg and regular is 22 mpg. Say you drive 22K miles per
year. Regular you use 1000 gallons and HH you use 700 gallons
(approx). So you'd save 300 gallons or about $900 per year.

Maybe now that gas is $3 it makes more sense. At $1.50 it'd be $450
per year.

But figure you're driving. Unless you do alot of city driving it
probably does't make sense. Highway it's probably not much better
mileage than the Pilot.
