Gotta give it to old Baby Bush -- in one day he took one of the USA's
highest honors and turned it into a worthless piece of tin.

The chief of the civil engineers said funding was adequate and not the
problem or cause of the dike breaking in N.O. That was on CSPAN
yesterday right from the horses mouth, but the news media never reported
it. Just goes to show where the news media stands.

Yeah, funny how the same folks that were saying over
and over that the funding was not adequate and the
levees were in dire need of maintenance ... they all
changed their tune RIGHT AFTER the disaster. The fact
that the Army Corps is Army, and Bush is their commander,
might have had something to do with this sudden lock-
step change in rhetoric. You think?

I'm not saying they COULDN'T have built them stronger, I'm saying they
DIDN'T build them stronger.

Somebody made a decision to build the levees to withstand Category 3 storms.
That's a fact.

Another fact, the section that broke -- 17th Street -- was the strongest and
most advanced of all of the levees. If any of them should have survived,
it's that one.
