Its Bs, I have old cars and alot of power equipment where if not used
much I just change the oil twice before replacing the filter, I have 3
yr old filters that dont leak, Ive never had a filter leak, for a filter
to leak its either put on a dirty surface or a junk filter. You are
supposed to coat a filter gasket with clean oil before installing and
clean mount area.

BMW says only change oil when the light comes on, usually 14 to 20,000
miles . My brothers 740 went 18400 before the light came on. BMW uses
Mobil 1. Vauxhall cars in England where they have a soggy climate and
usually short trips calls for oil changes on most of their cars at 2 years
or 24000 miles. They also use only synthetic oil
