Just to follow-up, in case anyone cares. :-)

It did turn out to be the pilot bushing, or so they say.

$8.00 part. 10 hours of labour. Nissan dealer did it for free as I
had bought it from them, and only owned it for about a week before this
problem started.

I hope that's the end of it. I love the truck.
