I used to know a heavy-set engineer whose farts were almost that
potent. The pilots always kept their oxygen masks nearby when he
was flying with them. He took joy in telling the story of the new
pilot posted in to the squadron who hadn't heard it yet and who
asked the captain why he hooked up his mask and kept it
nearby...he said 'you'll see later'...and sho'nuff, he did!...

Back in my 'adult beverage' days....

I decided that I needed money....so volunteered to go to the NASA
Eastern Test Range station at Ascension Island.

My job was to work on the electronics inside the hub of a 30' S Band
Antenna. Multiple Budweisers would have a terrible effect after a
good night of drinking at the Rocket Club.

The only way to work on the electronics was to crawl up in the
electronics hub and bend the antenna down horizontal. When the
antenna was horizontal you could NOT get out of the Y wheel house.

'You Son of a B*tch' 'Let me out' the cry went out from a sober
mate caught in the wheel house with me.

They finally bent the antenna over and let him out. The whole S Band
group laffin at the poor 'boot'.

Plus...we found out that if you sat in the nicely upholstered chairs
and 'out gassed' and left....some unsuspecting poor soul would come
along and sit....thus releasing my personal WMD...

Saddam's a bastard and I'm glad he's out of power, but the 200 billion
dollars could have been spent on the "war on terror" rather than on killing
a hundred thousand Iraqis and a few thousand American soldiers, and probably
turning a few thousand more Arabs into terrorists. Saddam was never
anything other than a brush fire; we had much more important things to worry
about than Iraq, but Bush and Cheney wanted like hell to invade Iraq. Why?
Saddam's PetroEuros? The PR boost of a very quick 'victory"? An effort to
distract the public from the failed effort to find bin Laden? Probably all
three of these and more. Bush has been trying to spin the Iraq invasion as
part of the "war on terror" ever since it turned out we were completely
wrong about WMDs.

Let me get this straight....there are a few thousand terrorists now in
Iraq....and we have our young people over there killing them...

You're wrong about saddam. He was a first class terrorists and he
harbored terrorists and he had and used WMD on his own people and
threatened other countries in the region with them. Make no mistake it

That is not entirely true. There was a National Geographic program on last
night that explained the relationship of OBL and his array of leutinents,
and Iraq and her neighboring states.

Not only is there solid evidence, it is pretty compelling. Granted, there is
no direct link, but the degrees of separation are much less than you think.

No, you misunderstand. We have tens of thousands of wounded and orphaned
Iraqis, and many more with their homes and/or livlihood destroyed, in spite
of the fact that Iraq posed no serious threat to us. Many of them will
understandable want revenge. They might not be able to do anything about it
now, but they will be ready for al-qaeda recruitment when the time comes.
Had we not invaded Iraq, those people would not give a shit about us.


We're not killing terrorists. The ones who will become terrorists aren't
the ones fighting us now. Right now we're killing people who are fighting
against an invading and occupying force. You criticize the French for
surrendering to an invader, but when people fight back against an invader
they're "terrorists." How convenient, you adjust your ethics to fit your
nationalistic fantasies.

I don't agree with you one bit but enjoy reading your rationalizations
and arguments. However I think you are wasting your time with us in
this group because most of the people here are unable to have a calm
and thoughtful discussion with you. You would have much more fun
matching wits with some of the people in the political discussion
groups. Have you tried them or do you like this one best?
