Hi all,

I have a EF I4 sonata that is hardstarting with a very strong scent of gasoline (no smoke).

The battery and starter are fine with the engine cranking quite strong. The engine check light comes on at times and gives a diagnostic of general misfire on cylinder one.

Changed coil packs on both cylinders as well as spark plugs, however the problem still persists. Once started the idle and car acceleration is relatively smooth, with the engine shutting off in idle (in traffic) about twice, but promptly restarted.

Whether the engine is cold or hot the car still hard starts with me having to pump the gas pedal. Note that even though I do not pump the gas the car would eventually start, still with a strong scent of gasoline. Any ideas, a pal told me to check the injectors, so i had them cleaned to no avail.

Help....Any ideas on the cause and solution...
