Default class B planning

I fly from under a class B. Instead of taking off and flying all around
avoiding the class B until we get clearance is there a way to get
clearance ahead of time so when we take off i can go directly into the class B?

Thanks.

Sure. Do you fly out of a field with a tower? If so, just ask ground
or clearance delivery to get you a class bravo clearance. You probably
won't be cleared into class bravo on the ground, but will get a squawk
code and departure frequency. Shortly after takeoff, you'll be turned
over to departure, who will be expecting you, and should be able to
clear you in almost immediately.

It seems to be hit or miss how well this works, however. If it's busy,
they may just tell you to negotiate with NY Approach on your own after
you take off.

Yes, there is!

Basically, it's an IFR filing with "VFR" in the altitude block and "VFR
Advisories" in the remarks section. Call FSS and file the flight plan
ensuring that they've entered an "I" in the flight plan type block, then
given them the rest of the plan as usual. Before departure from your
airport, contact ATC to "activate" your flight plan. ATC will have a squawk
code for you already and may be able to provide a clearance into Class B at
that time. In any case, they'll be aware that you want clearance and may be
able to work you in soon after takeoff.

Depends on the class B. I can tell you they were very reticent to do so ahead
of time here in DC (even before the ADIZ). I never understood the obstinance.

Has anyone ever done with at CDW? I never have. Once I'm given a frequency
change by the tower, I call the approprate approach frequency. It is
rarely a problem. But it would be nice to handle at least one detail - the
squawk - on the ground.

A VFR Class Bravo clearance requires the same separation that an IFR
clearance would. That means tying up a lot of airspace before they get
you in radar contact.

I didn't ask for the Class B clearance, I just wanted them to get the squawk
code. I can't understand why approach won't go ahead and issue one. They're
just going to have to deal with me cold calling them once I get off the ground
(the tower will authorize the frequency change even when still in the class D).

I do it everytime I fly pretty much.
when your ready to taxi, tell tower your destination and that you would like class
B services
"tower, this is arrow 47891, ready to taxi with the information, requesting class B
services to bullhead city"
they should give you a squak code and a frequency to contact tower, expect to
contact approach rather quick, for me, it seems to be just as I am turning cross
wind. then expect to give approach your destination, requested altitude and they
will probably give you vectors. If they give you instructions your not sure about
tell them, they will help you out.

also, look at the sides of the terminal area chart for the class B, I assume you
have one, if not, its wise to get one.
they usually have either VFR corridor's, or VFR routes published on the terminal
charts. They give you exact instructions for using the route. You still have to
contact approach, but you can simply tell them your requesting for example "rock
arrival 1"

you sure about that?
They always tell me, "traffic xx o'clock is a ***, maintain visual seperation
report henderson in sight"
I even get alot of "cleared into Class Bravo airspace own navigation, maintain
VFR".
They call out traffic but once you see it, its your responsibility to stay
clear of them, but if you maintain the assinged altitude its not usually an
issue. But on the other hand, IFR seperation changes with the weather, in IMC
they give you more space then when in VFR. But when I go through class B on an
IFR flight plan, even in VFR, I dont have any one near me like I do when doing
a VFR transition.
