Default How many in this group are actually students?

I was just wondering how many in this group are actually students and how
many are pilots just hanging out here? I'm starting on the cross country
phase of my training now.

I think the best answer will be all of us, even those who hang out here with
ATP's and loads of type ratings with thousands of hours of heavy jet time
are still students... The second you stop learning in this hobby is the
second your heart takes its last beat. Thats what draws me here. I'm a PPL
student, and for the most part a lurker, but i love it when the high timers
offer advice, even a recent lesson they themselves learned.

Everytime I leave the ground I am a student. I learn something
different each flight I take.

I am working on my instrumnent license. Started ground school two weeks
ago. Flying I will start in a couple of weeks.

I got my PPL, IR, and CPL. I am now starting on my multi. Just when
does one stop being a student?

I'd have to go along with what others are saying. When it comes to flying,
we will always be students. But, I guess I'm a real official student in
that I have 10.5 hrs.

Count me as an old-timer who hangs out here in hopes of helping students
understand the intricacies of aviation.

We're all students -- it's the best way to stay alive. Personally, I
just did my IFR flight test this morning: when you finish your PPL,
there's always something else you can work on.

All the best,

I would hope 100%. 4500 hours, CFI (A&G), retired pilot examiner, but I learn
something new every flight.

Got my ticket 20 days ago. I am still, and always will be a student.
I firmly believe that the day you stop being a student is the day you
start the process of being a statistic.

than an "official" pilot anyway)

I am a student with an instrument rating working on my commercial.

I don't post questions to this newsgroup; however, I like to answer them.
This is my way of giving back to the system. Hopefully, the answer that I
do give, help someone through a problem.
