:You sir, are a big jerk! It is obvious you know nothing about freedom

f speech! anyone has a right to speak out, boycott, or post their

pinion for all to see! This includes gathering all available data,
:and letting the public make their own minds up!
Certainly it does. But when you post - or publish, or broadcast -
something that is not true, and financially harms someone else (or a
corporation) they have a cause of action against you. I note that in
this post you are using a UK return address. That is not a good idea.
It is MUCH, MUCH easier to prove libel in the UK than in the US.
Basically, the burden of proof is on you, not on them. I suggest you
read a primer on UK libel law here -
http://www.urban75.com/Action/libel.html
Since the Usenet is distributed in the UK, and Belfort does business
there (like most companies now days, they do business anywhere there's
a customer with money) and you're using a UK return address, you
pretty much fall under their jurisdiction. It would be dead simple
for Belfort to print out your posts and get a multi-million UK default
judgement against you. How widely was your post distributed? Was it
likely to result in financial harm to them? Did you intend for it to
harm them? Answer these, you'll know how much the judgement will be.
How will they enforce it, you ask? It depends on where you actually
live, and how good your relationship with the local government is.
They can take that judgement to a local judge, and get him to issue an
order to the local sherrif to sieze your belongings. To do any of
that they'd have to know who you are - but I'm guessing they know that
already. I'll bet you had some significant encounters with them in
person long before you started this little defamation campaign.
:
:You know nothing of the laws and you are full of hot air! Take your

pinions, and shove them where the sun does not shine!
A brilliant and cogent argument. Congratulations!
:
:Your probably the PR guy for Belfort or something! Trying to keep your
:job with them also!
Hardly. Before you had posted I had never heard of Belfort. Since
then I've had to buy some weather instrumentation, and (since they
were the only company I'd heard of) gave them a small order. They
delivered faster than scheduled, their equipment has worked perfectly
since then. They've been responsive and knowledgable on the phone,
and very pleasant to work with.

:Maybe individuals are just tired of companies doing and saying things
:that they shouldn't! You appear to be one of those salad tossing type
:employees!
And you, in all your various incarnations, appear to be one very
disturbed person.
:
:Anyway, go crawl up in a corner, and lick yourself!
Another brilliant argument. You are certainly law school material,
Mr. Unknown Obsessive.
