Call to preserve world monuments:

Aboriginal rock art, said to be at risk from industrial development, has
made it onto a list of 100 sites nominated for preservation by the World
Monuments Fund.
The WMF, an US based organization dedicated to preserving historic,
artistic, and architectural sites worldwide, describes the rock art as
Australia's greatest non-European cultural heritage site.

The Fund's 2004 World Monuments Watch list also includes the Great Wall of
China, an airport in Finland, ancient palaces in Iraq and Shakleton's hut in
Antarctica.

President of the WMF Bonnie Burnham tells Pete Jackson tourism and war have
taken a toll on many of the sites.
