I wonder if I made it yet?

Like I'd ever get on another plane...

I think you have to wear a tea towel on your head to get on that list.
Either that, or express a dislike for Dubya- so most of the world is caught
by that rule!

currently. <g>

What's In A Name? David Nelson's Find Out

Jun 20, 2003 3:29 pm US/Eastern
NEW YORK (KCNC) A common name is causing a very
uncommon problem at nearly every airport in the country.
Hundreds of people who share the name are being stopped
and held up by airport security.

For men with the name David Nelson, a standard trip to the
airport can be filled with delays and hassles all over
something as simple as a name.

"The only reasons that I've ever been given for the delays
is my name," said David Nelson, a petroleum engineer.

"I'm just a normal American guy with a name," said David
Nelson, a network marketer said. "And this is what they're
doing with my name."

Both of these David Nelson's, and many others, have been
stopped and questioned at ticket counters for airlines such
as Continental, Frontier, Delta and others.

Why is the government concerned with a David Nelson?

The name doesn't appear on the FBI's Ten Most Wanted List,
but it does appear on what's called a "no-fly" list. To be put on
a "no-fly" list, a person must be considered a known threat to
civil aviation or a known terrorist.

"I asked 'Do I look like a terrorist?'" Nelson (marketer) said
jokingly. "I mean, how does David Nelson become a terrorist
name anyway?"

"My parents wanted to name me Peter," Nelson (engineer)
said. "I kind of wish they had now. I wouldn't have this problem."

The Transportation Security Administration told NEWS4 it has a
new system coming online in January that should clear up the
problem. But for now, the David Nelson's of the world can
expect delays at airports due to their name.

Different airlines have provided different explanations for the
David Nelsons phenomenon, according to the Rocky Mountain
News.

The federal "no-fly" list was assembled by the FBI after the
Sept. 11 attacks.

Heaven forfend, the government should hassle a "network marketer."
Personally, I'd be fine with strip searches of everyone who's ever used
the word "downline" with a straight face.
