Default Genuine Question - self starting military jets

Can modern military jets be started without the need for a Ground Starter
Unit to be plugged in, run up & then the engine cranked to speed?

I seemed to recollect that both Vulcan bombers & B 52 bombers, had special
war time only "rapid starters" that could "whack" the compressor turbines
into life & virtually switch on after burners to roll the a/c from dispersal
onto the runway.

I would have thought that on-board capacity to "self start" the jet engines
would have proven a real asset in a live combat scramble scenario.
