first electric

I have an 8 year old grandson that has taken a sudden interest in flying.
I'm looking for the best value as a starter plane for hime. I'll be there
to help him til he solo's but then he'll, for the most part, be on his own.
I guess what I'm looking for is something rugged, reasonably safe, and
reliable (with spare parts available) that can be flown at the park. Any
ideas?
