Default GWS MC2002 help

I am trying to charge a JP 2100mah 9.6v with a GWS MC2002 charger and am
confused where I should set the current adj (%) knob and how long I should
leave this battery charging? At the moment its being run from a 12v car
battery also can I run the GWS through a 12v transformer from the mains if
so will any regulated 12v one do? I have searched everywhere for these
answers but the more I read the more confused I get.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Eugene

You do not mention if this is a Nicad battery or a NiMH battery since
the charger can do both. In both cases you would set the knob to the
one hour rate in this case being a battery of 2.1A/hr you set the knob
to 1A and no more. This charger has Delta peak detection so it will
shutoff automatically once battery is charged however some chargers
(and this could be one) do not pick up too well when NiMH batteries
are fully charged so check for the first sign of heat when charging
these batteries and disconnect the charger.

NO. This is a field charger and can charge up to a 6A rate most
transformers (plug packs) are not capable of supplying a current
anywhere near this. Also important to ensure that when the charger is
connected to a battery that very good contact is made to ensure the
charger does not malfunction.

In article <3f64acb3.223750@news.arach.net.au>, (RECKLESS LOONY) says...

I read in the manual 1.5 * C is okay for NiMH batteries although
manufacturers would prefer you do 1 * C as you say.
NiCd types can be set even higher.

Although one can charge Nicd's at a higher rate than the 1 hour rate
to get the most life out of the pack it is best not exceed the 1 hour
charge rate.

This is the power supply I use for my SuperNova. It's nice and compact but a
little pricey at £35.
