Default help for rookie

Just had this responce from my webspace.

wired up?. I >have a Futaba Skysport 6YG system. I am using this on a
powered fixed wing ARTF >kit. The instructions are in Czech and poor English,
and indicate separate servos for each >wing. I'm contacting you because your
site came up on a search on "aileron servos". >Please help a poor misguided
rookie!!!!

any ideas? I am not sure about the futaba 6YG but i suggested just using a
Y lead from channel 1. If servo reversing is required i cant remember if
you have to swap both motor connections and pot connections or just motor.

Ideas?

Brett

The YG is a basic 6 channel with no computer mixing. It has servo reversing
switches so messing with servo internals isn't needed. A buffered Y harness
is recommended. Make sure to mount the aileron servos mirror image to make
them work right.

excuse my ignorance, but

I know what a Y harness is, but what's the buffered bit?

TIA

A buffered harness has a little electronics in it to prevent interaction of
the servos with one another. A standard Y harness usually works but some
servos will oscillate if connected together like that.

Does this reduce signals picked up in long leads as well or would
ferrite cores be needed as well?

IIRC, the buffer circuit should block any signals from getting to the
receiver. Ferrite beads couldn't hurt, though.
