Default Retract servo

Hi All. I'm building a Great Planes P-51 Mustang with mechanical
retracts. I need to buy the radio now. Recommendations? I've been told
that I need a "retract" servo. However, the one I found at tower says
it travels 180 degrees stop-to-stop and that isn't adjustable - even
by the radio. 180 is way too much for my retracts. Can I use a
standard servo?

Andy

If set up properly, the retract servo will work with 99% of mechanical
retracts. 180 degrees travel is only about 3/4" total movement on the
actuating linkage at the retract.

Use a servo wheel with one leg ____/ and the other ---\ to control the
offset around the center 'post' and "manage" the travel issue. Takes some
practice, but it works well. The only other solution is to use an
Airtronice RD 8000 (for sure and possibly just an RD 6000) and an Airtronics
retract servo as the end point travel can be adjusted with that rig.

Good Luck

refer to =

Email direct for pictures and comparison of Futaba, Hitec and JR
"retract" servo specs [so far no one has found an error] as well as
installation instructions relating to several brands of retracts.
