Try here:

Next time try Google or Yahoo search. That's where I found it.

If you are sending something back for exchange or want a refund then go
through the shop where you bought it.

If you want to vent some steam then fire away at Ripmax. I think that you
may get the usual management-of-the-problem reply, if you get a reply at
all, They will tell you to back to where you bought the goods.

Unfortunately distributors are very often like lobster pots they go only one
way, especially if they are box shifters.

Good luck

David.

Unfortunately, many hobby shops will not honor manufacturer's waranties. They
will tell you to go to the manufacturer - Catch 22. If it's a place like
Wal-Mart or other large discount store, they are usually pretty good at
exchanging or returning defective goods. Gotta keep that receipt, though.

Planet Earth to Dr. 1 Driver: This is *UK*.rec.models.radio-control.air. We
are not yet part of the USA and have our own laws. Do try to keep up,
there's a good chap.

Under UK law any manufacturer's warranty is in addition to your statutory
rights as a consumer. You have the right to return defective goods to the
supplier. The supplier is the shop from which you bought the goods.

In the UK the Sale of Goods Act virtually carves your rights in stone in
addition to any warranty that the manufacturer provides but only through the
place where you bought the goods. It also only cover consumers not
businesses. The act says that goods have to be "fit for the purpose for
which they were intended" so shoddy or defective goods are
returnable. Actually I think the act was changed some time ago so that
"goods have be to the buyers expectation" but I'm sure that the lawyers here
will correct me if I'm wrong. Most retailers know and honour this because
they are honourable, want you to come back and frankly they will have a hard
time defending against complying with the act. Also the biggest mark-up on
goods is usually the retailer and this is part of his service to you. If
you were to get a refund from the manufacturer then he would only give you
what he is paid and you might be shocked at the difference to how much you
paid.

Not sure how this applies to Ripmax though. Now that they have been taken
over by Irvine the policy might have changed.

Retailers who try to get away with it usually try to intimidate the customer
into going away and they know that apathy rules. Remedy is fairly simple
through Trading Standards, a branch of government. The retailer will get a
visit and if TS don't like what they see or the action the retailer will
take then they act. Actually the retailer will then put his hands up at
that point I think.

The reality is, if the item is low cost then either go for it if you can be
bothered or just remember for next time where not to buy. If the item is
expensive then go for it big time and don't take any prisoners!! Know your
rights and stand your ground!! A good shouting match in a busy shop does
work!!

David.
