I know, I know, 5 year olds can make these fly no prblem at all - I know
I've seen them do it. So when the opportunity cropped up to buy a s/h one
for 50 quid I thought of long summer evening at my caravan with a Sky Surfer
gently wafting round the sky.

......and so it did for one night only at the Hop Farm last year. The
following night it never flew and hasn't ever again since.

The problem seems to be a basic lack of power, even though I've tried 2
different battery packs the max rpm I can get is 5600. This is using the
supplied motor, gearbox and prop.

Can anybody tell me, from checking there own Sky Surfer, if this is
anywhere near the revs required

try a little light oil on all bearings etc.

That has restored a 'barely fly' to a 'reasonable performer' for me.
