Default Source of 1mm glass fibre composite sheet

Hi,

Doesn anyone know a UK stockist for 1mm glass fibre composite sheet for making
control horns for small models ? I've been able to find several at the 1.6mm
and up thicknesses but that's a bit thicker than I'd prefer.

Many thanks,

Do you have any PCB manufacturers near you?, if so they will have stacks of
off cuts including 1mm.

I really would prefer a shop or other outlet where they are selling for profit
rather than take up someones' time. But thanks for the suggestion anyway.

Cheers,

Have you tried fibretec?, they do carbon sheets in various thicknesses and
may also do GRP, sorry but I can never find their web site! Plenty of people
like Maplin sell PCB materials but unfortunately I've never seen thinner
than 1.6 (1/16") which is the most popular PCB thickness, it's only the pro
companies that use the thinner types.

though.

Faced with a similar problem, I got some laminating resin, folded up
some wing joiner glass cloth, soaked it in resin between two sheets of
clingfilm and stuck it between some heavy books and a smooth worktop.

I wasn't sure how thick it would come out, so I used various folds at
different points.

That's not been he case for many, many years, finished boards of 1mm are
common and thinner are readily available, also and anyone who handles
multi-layer boards, which are now common place, will have pre-preg down to
around 0.3 in stock for building the internal layers. There is lots of
waste in he process so it would only take a retailer with a little get up
and go to pick up as much as they could sell in a lifetime.

Dunno. Depends on what thickness cloth you use. A wing bandage kit is a
good place to start...I had some skinning lightweight cloth so it was a
LOT of layers..
