Trans..shifts fine until third gear...Have come to conclusion to
put new shift solenoid switch in..eg 2-3 switch...My question
..What is the difference between a shift solenoid and a
preasure controle solenoid???and could the tcc switch be causing
problem also? ..per. 96 astro van awd.....thanks for any
help...

1. why not switch? .......trans will not go into third...motor
surges at about 20 mph....Starts out in all

Continued...my lbb is crazy tonight..lol What do you mean case
conector? when I changed fluid...I noticed one of the switch
housing has play,....this is one of the squire switches that
are mounted side beside....I have driven this van for 6 months
in 2 gear...35 mph..around towned....just finshed paying 6000.00
on it.....ANY suggestions.....thanks for any help....

Bob,
Two things........

1)
Your posts are hard on the eyes.

2)
If solenoids were all off......the tranny would
be in 3rd gear.


So....you can see where putting a new one
in to get 3rd gear might be kinda ......
not gunna work.

If you don't have 3rd gear, it's not the solenoid
causing the prob.

I took it to a tranny shop...They test drove it....came back
and said it would need rebuilt....at around 1200.00..They said
it probably only need ed the soft parts replaced......Should they
have done any other testing?

No.
do a ping fer GG for a second opinion on that
if you like...he's a tranny man too.


By the way...yer drive'n me crazy by not asking
the correct questions.

Whats a ping& GG......ALSO LOL. when I checked the tranny up
close I notices a small leak from gov...cover..on side of
tranny....also when van is sitting in neutral..and I press
accelerator down...engine wants to stalll....also...when it does
rev. up the speedomitor moves up as if it' moving...ei.5
mph....Is this normal? I am only working parttime so I am
putting off the garage untill I have too....I do know a
little about engines..lol....ENOUGH TO GET ME IN
TROUBLE.....thanks for trying to help?
