Default 2006 Corvette Coupe problems

Chevy dealer near my house has a 2006 vette coupe with about 21k miles
for $35k. Edmunds.com has it valued around $33k from a dealer
(perhaps dealer allows for bargaining at $35k??). It looks nice in
the pics (red car) tho I prefer to have blue or white because I once
had a red car and it attracted cops and kids.

What if any are the mechanical weaknesses for this year model? Are
dealers now more negotiable on used cars especially if I make a cash
offer with no trade-in (never bought a used car from a dealer)?

Offer him $30k out the door and work from there and I think it can be
had for that. If you're afraid to insult a dealer/salesman just
remember they have never been bashful about insulting a buyer with a
ridicules price. Now if you're sleeping with his wife you might go
$31k just to keep him friendly.

The only mechanical weakness the '06 has is that it's not an '08 or
'09. Don't be paranoid about a red Corvette I've had red, blue, black,
silver, and have been stopped in all colors but only got tickets in
silver. As far as kids I take them all for a ride if they ask, had one
high schooler about wet himself when I let him get in and start it up
with 300 miles on the new C6.

Your almost into a a new one. Well, about 10K short. If your paying cash,
there are dealers offering.0%, no doc or prep fees to make the other 10K.
Shop around.

Now that's not a bad idea, more HP, get the color you want, much, much
longer warranty, and a better remote system. There are a good number
of '08s on the lot yet and there is little or no difference in them
and the '09 except you can expect and get a lower price.

Good luck

I have a 2006 coupe. A common weakness is the roof panel ; there is
a recall on it to fix possibility of seperating...plus...some like
mine suffer creaking noises especially on uneven road surfaces.
Fortunately, all under warranty if you buy his 2006. You can find a
new 2008 model with the basic 1lt package in the neighborhood of
$40,000 from dealers. Saw one in the Chicago Tribune newspaper a
couple weeks back . Also if you check with Kerbeck Chev. and Les
Stanford Chev. which are the two biggest new Vette dealers in the
nation, you should be able to get one close to $40,000 . Let us
know. Good luck. Other than the roof creak problem , I like my 2006
quite a bit.

Ironically, I never received a ticket in either of the two red Corvettes I
owned years ago in late 60s and into the 70s and I always tended to move
them along kinda quickly. But, I did get a ticket in my son's silver Honda
Civic for doing 80 on a 55 mph country road in GA.
