When the new cobra came out, I posted in excitement, how good the hp
numbers were on the cobra (i'm not brand loyal - have owned vettes,
mustangs, camaro's, t/a's). it ended up being quite a thread! i've just
came across a new article, the is not biased to either. check it out!

I love that answer...not.

To me, acceleration is not everything. I happen to like both cars alot, and
to me, .5 seconds is not bragging rights to being faster.

I race my 03 Z06 in NHRA, and to me winning by 1/100th of a second gives me
bragging rights to being faster.

As you well know, excluding both rules violations and breakdowns,
neither the faster nor quicker car necessarily wins in NHRA ;^)

The first car to make it 1,320 feet without a violation wins.

are you serious???have you ever been in a drag race??? .5 of a second is a
lifetime in drag racing. top fuelers are sometimes decided by .005 or less.
ive seen .002 difference. a half second loss and your looking at tailites,
not fenders or doors or 1/4 panels. in other words, you got stomped!! for
instance, thats the difference between a 12.5 and a 13.0. the guy with the
13.0 isnt even in the same zip code at the end of the race.

Was refering to the article. IF I was to belabor the point, The Corvette
is FASTER, CORNERS harder, BRAKES better, RESPONDS more crisply to
input, FITS the driver better, Gets better milage, has a better set of
creature comforts, AND does't waste space for a useless pair of "rear
seats". In exchange it costs more.

HAPPY NOW? Sheesh!

I'll tell you what. We had a 99 C-5 Vette and an 00 Mustang 4.6GT in the
garage at the same time. Both stick shift convertibles. At the time, I
thought the Vette had it all over the Stang (although my wife still has her
Mustang, and my Vette is gone)

However, in looking at the C-6 (which I love), and the 05 Mustang in this
month's Motor Trend, I'm changing my mind a bit. The styling on the
Mustang is gorgeous. And the promised SVT Cobra will have an independent
rear suspension, and the same power as the stock Vette, at the same price as
the stock Vette.

I think it is going to be a much closer comparison than it has been in the
past, and that no matter which way any of us chooses to go, we're going to
end up with fast, incredibly good looking, comfortable cars!!
