Default real stupid question

I used to do all my own tuneups and most repairs.
No way I've kept up on the technology though.

I have a chevy 1997 s10 2200 2.2 liter with air and automatic.

I know where the air filter is and change regularly.

But there must be a fuel filter, but I'm darned if I can find it.
Is it chassis mounted near the gas tank?

Not sure where exactly it is, but usually they are along the inside frame
rail on driver side someplace. Follow the fuel line and you'll run into it
someplace along the way. Normally running along with the rear brake lines.
Maybe get yourself a NEW filter so you have a better Idea what your looking
for. Sometimes they're near the front, and other times they can be in the
back by the fuel tank.

Its under the truck on the side in the middle like its about 2 inches round
and say 3 inches long, it unscrews on one end and clips like on the other
end. Gas will run out of the fuel line when u unscrew or unhook from fuel
line. I would put it up and a lift.
