Default S10 Front Suspension - 4x4 vs. 2WD

What is the difference between the 2WD chassis and the 4x4 frame ?
Besides the obvious difference of the torsion bars and coil springs,
will the 4x4 A-Arms bolt up to the 2WD frame or is the 4x4 a complete
redesign with a completely different chassis ?

I'm assuming the first and second gerneration had the same suspension
as well ?

The front third of the frame is different. The A arms on the 4x4 are pretty
much sticking straight out while the 2wd are angled a bit.
go to the gmufitter web site and download the upfitter guide for one of the
s10 years and compare the frame drawings.

Didn't know about the GM upfitter website. There's some good info
there, and yes, the front section of the frame looks very different.

I could only go back as far as 1999 though on that website. Was the
first generation S10 front suspension - both 2wd and 4x4, carried over
to the second generation S10 ?

Yes, there were some small differences but for the most part it was the
same. IIRC a couple of the crossmembers changed and the bumper mounts, but
not a lot else.
