The firing order is1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2
#1 is the first plug on the drivers side closest to the front.
Before I tell you where to set the timing,is the motor stock?

Back then static timing was usually TDC on a lot of GM SB's. WHat you
can run it at depends a lot on the gas octane and CR ratio you are
running. If you are running more than stock compression, it will not
like more than TDC with 87 octane. If you are stock compression you
may do best with about 4 BTDC and if you use 91 octane or better, run
about 8 to 10 BTDC or so.
