If you get fined for a traffic violation, what does it cost? Obviously
there's the fine itself. If you had to leave work to go to court, add the
price of your lost time and wages. Don't forget to include your increased
insurance premiums, which will probably add up, over several years, to much
more than the fine itself. Do you know the total cost yet?

No. The hidden cost, which most Americans have never even thought of when
dealing with traffic tickets, is you are losing your freedom. For years, the
government has been telling the public that driving is a priviledge, not a
right - and now most people believe that. Is it true, though?

When America was founded, our forefathers assumed the right to freely travel
the public roads without question in the peaceful conduct of their own
private affairs was such a fundamentally recognized right that they didn't
need to explicitly list it in the Constitution. That right, however, is
precisely what has been taken away: You must now first get permission from
the government before you venture out in public.

Do you really think it's proper that such a fundamental part of our freedom
has been taken away? Is that something you want to give up without a fight?

'Common wisdom' tells us that 'you can't fight City Hall' - the government is
out of control. That attitude is most of the problem: The only way it can
happen is if we let it - by not banding together into a unified voice to put
our public servants into their place.

YOU can make a difference. Help us in the fight to protect our liberty by
going to http://StopHighwayRobbery.com to join the battle, or to at least
learn more about the issues involved. This domestic threat to our freedom is
as dangerous, if not more so, than any external ones we have ever experienced
in the past.

Try obeying the law and you wouldn't have these problems.

pretty damned flimsy argument. Losing driving privileges doesn't
take away your "right" to travel. Get on a bus. Walk even.

just because you say it, doesn't make it so.
Societies must have rules. Every rule is disliked
by somebody, and some are not fair. Tough shit.
I think licensing is too lenient as it is. Traffic rules
have public safety at their core.."providing for the
general welfare". Some are dumb, none are flexible,
they don't take skills and vehicle capabilities it account..
too bad. I do have a problem with governments financing
by fine, and many do just that, but trying to make traffic
tickets and some assumed "right to travel" a constitutional
argument is ridiculous. Want to buy some land, build your
very own highway, and set your own rules there? Fine, go
ahead. If you're driving on the road we all paid for, you'll
have to obey the rules set by people we elected to do that job.
You don't have to like it, but if you follow all the rules, you
have no problems at all. You can travel all you want, just
not at 110 mph. If I get nailed, I'll pay up and shut up.
/jeez... should we dissolve the court system? Apparently,
you are privy to the very thoughts of the framers of the
Constitution. We should just ask you what they meant,
and save a ton of money.
yer a dork!

Dumb shit. Don't break the traffic laws and you won't have a problem.
You know what the traffic laws are---you had to take a test on them to
get your license. You get a ticket, pay the mutha. You knew better
when you did it. Shut the .... up!

Oh yeah another WebTV know-it-all.
What about people who obey the rules and get tickets anyway you dumb
shit?
I've gotten a bunch and the cop was clearly making his quota.
So much for obeying the laws and you'll be all right.
When it finally happens to you then you'll grow up and realize you
have toi protect yourself. Lots of cops are far from honest. If you
think they are all honest they you are living in a dream world!

Don't get caught using it in Va. You'll have to buy another one and
pay the ticket.

Speaking of quota's. They are real and many police department's
budget's are based on projected revenues from tickets. As can be the
City's general revenue fund and the courts.

When they are not running according to schedule they will pick up the
pace. However, very rarely if ever do they run around handing out
unwarranted tickets. To many fools break the law for them to have to
do that.

Running short on ticket revenue? Park a patrol car across the street
from a bar and wait for closing time. You'll have someone give you a
reason to pull them over and !!Poof!! DUI bust and revenue stream is
back on target.

BTW -- My daughter and I just beat speeding tickets in back-to-back
days at court. Pleaded defective equipment after having our speedo's
checked out. Still had to pay a fine & court costs, but no driving
record hit, no points, and no insurance increase. I was doing 54 in a
30 if your interested. Think she was 10 over.

We have 2 cops who only give out tickets the rest of the cops do not
unless there is a reason.
The cop that gives out day tickets will ticket you for nothing. I've
been accused of going through a stop sign when I was clearly stopped
in traffic and the cruiser was in plain sight. Took it to court and
lost. This cop always shows up, and always lies.
They don't have the stop signs and the stop lines close to each other
so which one is it? Wel it depends on the cops mood that day. Some
days it's the line, other days it's the sign.
Amazing how radar can see through trees and the like also amazing that
it can see in a straight line. Never knew that before. But a Cop and a
Judge don't care about physics.

cop radar II

Still can't win in court over a cops word.

Well they sure do it here, the other cops nail DUI's and the like.
Plus we have State Police that handle the brunt of drug related
crimes.
The cops ere and in this general area are know for being problematic
and breaking the law themselves.

Tecnically that's illegal but they do that as well.

Lucky! Here they want the fine and the insurance Co. wants big bucks
for the next 6 full years!

most peeps dont realize that the judges pensions get funding from traffic kort.
how that for impartial hearing of matters?

the state gets beuracracy, the insurance companies get to charge more, the
police get revenue. nice arrangement.

you ever see a cop get a ticket?

once on a snowmobiling trip i happened across a cop almost getting one, he
bellyached so bad i thought he would cry. well his brothers said ok, but dont
do it again.

if no party is injured there is no crime!

of course that does not mean i believe in going 150 mph down the freeway.

its all about responsibility, but today people have been so dumbed down, have
no principles to operate from, that they really dont want liberty, they in fact
love comfortable servitude.
