Someone directed me via email to the "Herfer's Paradise" website,
which I had never heard of, and there is a bulletin board there
running a thread on this same subject. Anyway, it was suggested that
Poker would never intentionally do something so evil, and that it
probably wasn't even called "Socal Herf." Well, it was. This from
the HP board -- a message that went out to SmokeyMO's customers,
apparently:

I spent 4th July at the SoCAL Herf in Los Angeles and took the
opportunity to have 4 days serious herfing with old friends and new
from the SoCAL crew and many of the guys from Illinois who had made
the annual trek for the famous SoCAL Herf hosted by 'Poker and
friends'

More a social trip than a business trip, I was delighted to
participate and was very impressed that over $4000 was raised for
