On the train riding to work, I happened to be talking to some of my
fellow riders in regards to hobbies. I mentioned that I really like
fine cigars. One lady asked me if my cigars made me "high". She
insisted that storing cigars in cedar boxes caused the smoker to "get
high".

I told her that I have never heard of such nonsense; and that I found
that storing cigars in cedar didn't do anything for me in terms of
getting high; so now I store my cigars in a barrel of magic mushrooms.

Is 70% relative humidity ok for magic mushroom storage? Are you
"cedar heads" stoned?

It never ceases to amaze me what some people think!

I find that the flavor nuances of finer magic mushrooms don't actually
marry with the cigars very well...satisfactory results can, however, be
achieved by clearing your palate, prior to smoking, by consuming a small
quantity of the accompanying mushrooms. I have also found the Maria
Mancini Magic Mountain to blend quite well with magic mushrooms. YMMV

Well since Magic Mushroom's grow under piles of cow shit........and we all
love the barnyard shitty smell of Cuban cigars..........you can make all of
your non Cuban cigars taste and smell like REAL Cuban cigars by letting them
age together......<BEG>

High in the traditional sense? I don't think so, did you check her arms
for tracks? Still, I've had some wicked nic kicks from the odd Cuban
Churchill. One left me spinning for a good hour. No cedar in sight
though....

And now, for another POV...

Yeah, I sometimes get a slight "buzz" from cigars. I used to more,
before I smoked as regularly as I do, now -- but I still get it,
sometimes.

....But it's a "high" very similar to what one gets with a big dose of
caffine, for example. I've never referred to it as "getting high", but
know several who talk about "a cigar buzz".

I'd say that is more like a medical fact than a POV. Nicotine (and I
assume some other compounds present) is a mind and mood altering
chemical...as much a drug as cocaine or heroin. But even with my
current tolerance, and the reduced *chemical* effect, I most certainly
experience a change in mood when enjoying a good cigar......not unlike
that from enjoying an excellent meal.

Sure -- I meant "another POV" to contrast the half a dozen or so
responses that I saw saying "no way anyone ever gets high from a cigar"
and "did you check that moron's arms for tracks? Maybe SHE was high..."

Like Hutch says, a little like the "high on life" thing, except with a
bit of a buzz

Does nicotine cause the release of endorphins, or anything cool like
that?

I had a Partagas SD4 send me to lie down once. I felt almost ill after it -
head was dizzy/nautious, my stomach was feeling off too. Cleared up after a
short time (1/2 hour of lying down). I smoked it quick coz it was cold out.
I put it down to the nic and my newbie status - it was probably cigar #10 or
thereabouts given how little i do smoke.
