Default Graycliffs--Why $o Co$tly?

I don't know if this has been covered recently or not, and I apologize if it
has. This Graycliff brand is new to me, but everywhere I see it, it's quite
costly. The obvious question is Why? What is it? Flavor? Hype? Educated
Cigar is offering a 4 pack for $70. or about $17.50 per stick. If anyone has
the scoop in these I'd appreciate the info. Thanks.

Pretty much. Very well made cigar, with an interesting mild taste. Too
many other mild cigars, as good or better, for 1/2 the price or less
IMO

What determines the price of any super premium? Steve Saka once told me that
it was impossible for it to cost more than $1.25 to manufacture any cigar,
including packaging and distribution costs. Of course, few cigars are that
expensive to make. The other factors in pricing cigars are marketing costs
and perceived value (what the market will bear).

Default Graycliffs--Why $o Co$tly? (tobacco cigars)

Steve Saka has never grown his own tobacco and rolled his own cigars

(Of course, he was talking about a commercial operation -- I'm just
taking the chance to repeat my gripe that MCRs may well be the most
expensive, most rare, biggest dog-rockets ever made, assuming I ever get
to the point where I roll one... <G>)

Unlike the restaurant which is costly and worth it, their cigars are
mediocre, lack luster relatively tasteless expensive weeds.

Cigar prices have always boggled my mind. The new Zinos are another
example of a crap cigar that wealthy people are more than happy to pay
$40 a piece for. When I took marketing in college, they called this
"differentiation." I don't know what they call it now, but I call it
a rip-off. I think anyone who spends money on Graycliffs and Zinos
just doesn't know much about quality when it comes to cigars. It's
all about smoking an expensive cigar with the band still on so
everyone knows you're smoking an expensive cigar.

While I find the Opus X cigars to also be overpriced, I can still see
why some might pay those outrageous prices because occasionally you do
smoke a pretty damned good one. But Cubans are still a better value
than Opus Dopus X. Anyway, again, it's all about marketing.
Obviously there are a lot of people who buy these cigars, even though
we know they are true idiots. They don't seem to care. They just
don't want to be caught buying the same stuff as a guy who only pulls
down 60 G's a year. That is all it is about.
