Default Humidor Building Question (cigars)

I am poor but I have a lot of junk around. Can someone tell me VERY basically
what I need to do to make a cheap Humidor? I mean: a wooden box, a plastic
box, in the refrigerator, what? What humidity should I keep my cigars at and
how best to attain that humidity? For instance, if I took a small wooden box
and put a sock containing...corn starch(?) in it...would that do anything?
Again, I have no extra money to spend but would like to do this cheaply and
well. Thanks.

Default Humidor Building Question

There's alot of good info here.
http://www.cigargroup.com/faq/

Coolers and tupperware make great humidors. Keep the humidity around 70%
You can regulate the humidity with Propylene Glycol. Buy some (wet, not
dry) floral foam and use that to soak up a 50/50 mix of PG and Distilled
water. Keep the foam inside your humidor in a small container with lots
of holes for air exchange (like a plastic travel soap dish, or very small
tupperware with drilled holes).

That's my $.02, but you should definitely read the link above and listen
to the veteran ASCers too.

Default Humidor Building Question (cigars humidor)

A simple humidor need be no more complicated than a plastic tupperware
container that can be sealed, together with a humidifying device. Pay
particular attention to the 'homemade humidifiers' section on the link
below. It is the key to storing your cigars properly.

Here's a link to the cigar storage information on the JR web site:

Default Humidor Building Question (cigars humidor)

My first humidor was a large ziplock freezer bag with a 35mm film canister
(drilled full of tiny holes) with a piece of dampened paper towel stuffed
inside. This works well if you only have a handful of cigars. I then
graduated to a large Tupperware container. Then a couple cheap desktop
boxes, and finally to coolerdors.

Bottom line: Keep it simple.

Default Humidor Building Question (standard cigar)

See FAQs (linked in my .sig) re: cooler-dors & cigar storage/relative
humidity.

It's a bit non-standard, but I sort-a like the cornstarch-sock idea... ;D

Okay, okay ...

Depends on how long you wore the sock.
