Default Humidor Help - Cigars are drying up (cigars humidor)

I've bought a few good cigars finally, but I'm still having humidor
troubles. Now, how good the humidor is maybe in question, but here I go
anyhow:

My cigars seem to dry out quick. The hydrometer states that the inside
atmoshpere is about 70 as it is supposed to be, but the cigars will still
dry. So I'm assuming the guage is off.

I have the cheap-o device that came with the humidor, and a creedo that I
purchased years ago inside. But even these seem to go bone dry in only a
few days.

So, should I just break down and get a new humidor or is this some what
normal? And any suggestions on a good humidor that I can count on?

Thank you all in advance!

Carter

That gauge is stuck I bet. There is also a big leak if that humi is drying
up that fast.

Take the cigars out and put a flashlight (on) inside the humidor. Take it
into a dark room and see if you can see the light coming out of the humi.
This will show you were the leaks are and how bad they are.

If they are bad I would get a new one. I would also suggest a Tupperdor.
Cheap.........work great.......and hold humidity like a champ.

It could well be...there is a "salt test" to calibrate the hygrometer...do
you remember if you did that?

Could be either--either the hygrometer is not working properly, or the seal
on your humidor is not good...also, that the cigars just need some time to
absorb the water.

I'd start with calibrating the hygrometer if you have not already done so:

http://www.cigargroup.com/faq/ ...has directions.

It wouldn't hurt to add a few drops of distilled water to the humidifying
device in the interim as well.

There's problem #1, try using a hygrometer instead

First off, salt test your hygrometer. Once you're sure that it's
accurate, use the "baggie test" to test the humidor.

Sorry to change topics on you. Tony I don't know what font you're using
but they are way too small for me. I have to enlarge the font 200% to be
able to read anything on your website, wich BTW is a source of very good
info.

Just had to say it.

We now return you to a regularly schdule program...

Hope to read you soon,

Denis that may be your resolution on your monitor. Mine is set for 32 bit
and 1024X728 Pixels and I can see it just fine.

I'm also 1024x768 (bit-depth doesn't change size, although I'm also
32bit), and it's also small for me to read. The problem is, you & Tony
are young pups with good eyesight. Us old guys have trouble reading
such small print!

I suspect that Tony picked a smaller font so he could get more info into
a smaller screen area. Thing is, that's what links are for. Edit to
short sentences on the main page, then link to the longer (hyper!) text
on another page.

"font-size: x-small" -- blargh!

Hey PM,

My resolution is 1280x960 and 32bits color. That is not the problem, I
have no problem with most site I visit, only with the Cigar Diary. Maybe
Tony should use a Style Sheet to improve resolution and readability.

BTW, I teach Web page creation to teachers and one of the topics in my
courses is readability.

Hope to read you soon,

He uses a style sheet, but has it set to "****y-tiny" -- I'm guessing
because there's a lot he wants to say on the 1st page.
Hey, you teach this stuff! Talk to him about editing and links! <G>

(See http://www.cnn.com -- they have BOATLOADS of info and a readable site!)
