Default Montreal Herf - pics (cigar)

Well, here they are -- my personal snaps taken at the Montreal Herf last
week.

http://www.canadian-whiskey.net/monteal/

This town has a great potential for a much larger cigar event. I'd
recommend sometime during the Montreal International Jazz Festival.

La Casa de Habano was a great place to spend the afternoon -- very nice
private cigar lounge. Armando and Katherine were great hosts.

I smoked way too much but the Montecristo Double Robusto was enjoyable

For those interested here's what I managed to puff away on:
Sancho Panza Belicosos, Partagas SD4, Montecristo Double Robusto,
Montecristo #4, San Cristobal La Fuerza and a Vegas Bobaina Famosos.
I definitely wasn't kissable after all that. Other that some draw problems
on the Sancho Panza everything was perfect.

nice pics! Where are all the people?

from your site: "I think sometime in 2005 during the Montreal
International Jazz Festival would prime herf time."

That sounds fun. Plus I was recently told Montreal has the best strip
joints.

Agreed. Noone go to the herf? ;-)

It's a toss-up. Niagara Falls is good, as is Toronto.

Been a long time since I've passed through Montreal, though...

pretty quiet herf this time around -- we needed more bodies -- but not
that I cared if you read my the list of stuff I smoked. So where were you guys?

Alas, i spent lots of time herfing that i missed the joints. The Montreal
girls really know how to deck themselves out so I'd say the joints would
be well worth a visit (many of the gals work Ottawa so there would be a lot
of familliar faces or whatever).

Montreal would be a great spot with your family or not.

Gosh, Niagara is close to Buffalo and Rochester but sorry, the interest
factor isn't there (same with Toronto with the anti-smoking Nazi's hiding
in every corner). Montreal is a different planet with a way better
attitude to having fun (but don't ask me as I am from dull and boring
Ottawa). Montreal is also drivable in a reasonable period of time.

It wasn't a comment about the towns, just the strip clubs. And the
clubs in Niagara Falls are excellent, as are those in Toronto, though I
think Niagara Falls is a bit better in that regard.

It is a huge tourist attraction, and therefore, having top-flight adult
entertainment is a plus...

======

Interesting pics of my home town. It's nice to see all the French-only
signs on St-Denis. I'm telling you "ASC"ers that some day in the
future you'll only see Spanish-language signs in California. And that
would be good. You Anglos don't have a clue.

You ought to go to Montreal then and rediscover your French-Canadian
roots.

The caption that described Davidoff's as being on "Montreal's High
Street" is not acceptable. That term is used in Britain. Not in
Montreal.

A question: Is Davidoff's on Sherbrooke St. Ouest near Guy, or on
Crescent St? Or Drummond? Or is that Dunhill? Or whatever? I can't
remember. Or maybe Dunhill's closed down? (It's been years).

And does anyone remember that HUGE Tobacco Emporium on Craig St. (now
St-Antoine) that turned into a Pascal's hardware store?

Is Poupart's still around, run by that Slovenian guy?

I noticed some "for-profit" Cigar Stores run by Chinese dudes a few
years back on Rue Ste-Catherine. Are they still around? Those places
were not cozy at all, just an example of hucksters cashing in on the
boom. There were also cigar stores popping up all over the place, even
in my own neighbourhood. What the hell?

Anyway, try Blatter und Blatter on Rue President-Kennedy. One of the
world's best pipe stores. Operated by 4th-generation Swiss brothers.

I'm not from Montreal area -- I just went to the herf and to check Montreal out.

It's on Sherbrooke not more than a hundred feet from La Casa (near Guy). or on

I wish I had more time time tour around town -- tons to see. The last
few years I have only visited Crescent street at night so I'm no expert
on the rest of the city! Thanks for the heads up on these spots because
I'm headin back for some more snooping the 'gar stores.

NOw if I can only avoid being sucked in by La Casa...
