Default Mother's Day out with the kids.....

The kids took mom out to dinner (well I paid) but it was their idea. ) We
decided on the SandCrab (local joint). After a lengthy swim I decided on a
PAM Torp and a bottle of Stone Arrogant Bastard beer. Both went down smooth
and before I knew it, it was time to leave.

Hit the SandCrab early to avoid the rush. Settled in and we decided on the
Dungeness Crab bucket for 2 and added a pound of Stone crab to go along with
it. Inside these buckets are peel and eat shrimp, potatoes, corn and
andouille sausage along with the main course of crab and more crab.

Ordered a bucket (6) of beer (Stone Pale Ale) and I saw they had Oysters for
a buck a piece. I asked what kind and she informed me they were Blue Points
from Washington. I ordered 6 of them (I know Chefboy and BigOak are going to
be WAY surprised). Man did they taste FRESH. I slurped them all down in a
matter of moments.

Food arrives and they throw it all over the table (they are supposed to) and
my daughter starts crying (she is 2). I ask what the matter is and she
informs me she is afraid of crabs. I make some smart ass comment about being
afraid of crabs too but that they have some shampoo for them <G>. I finally
get her to the point where she thinks it is funny that daddy is hammering
the crab and eating it. Now we get to cracking some serious crab. All I can
say is that this place ROCKS. Always a great meal and always friendly people
to wait on you.

Home now. Getting ready for a Bolivar Beli Fino to finish the night off in
the spa. Hope your day was as good as mine.........)

Sounds good, I'm going to have to try that place out next time we're
up in North County.

BTW, I had some Stone tonight, too.

GREAT beer..

Default Mother's Day out with the kids..... (cigar)

Mom wanted to go camping, sop we spent the weekend at San Clemente with two
other families. Perfect weather, nice beach -- and always a good cigar by
the fire with a nice glass of wine.
Momma's happy, so we're all happy <g>

Thanks for taking us along Scott.

We have a local brewery here in Cleveland that trades beers with other
microbrews and they almost always have Arrogant Bastard on tap. Good stuff.

The one thing I miss most about living on the coast is the lack of good
seafood. Around here, Red Lobster is the haute cuisine. ;-)

Thanks for sharing, Scott. I spend the day on the golf course with my
oldest son (and his best friend and his father) as the Queen wanted some
alone time on Mother's Day (sent the rest of the brood out into the
neighborhood to play). When we got home I had the kids clean up the
house while I grilled up a nice steak dinner for the Queen. All in all,
a great day in the kingdom :-)

Default Mother's Day out with the kids..... (demi)

PadronMan©® a écrit:

We actually had lobster for dinner last night. My spouse had her
birthday on saturday. So, I cooked, as requested by her, a duck breast
stuffed with "foie gras" with a balsamic vinegar demi-glace sauce. Not
bad, but not what she expected when reading the recipe book.

We discover that "foie gras" in pâté is not the same as grilled. Way
better in pâté.

So yesterday, for Mother's Day, my son picked dinner and atlantic
lobster it was, a fresh arrival of this year too. They were great. My
son cooked a cake for her birthday and for a first one, it might not
have been pretty, but it was delicious. Vanilla with vanilla icing and
fresh strawberry to decorate.

After dinner, I retired to the garden swing with a glass of port and my
Te Amo Anniversario, not the best, but not a bad way to end a good dinner.

Hope to read you soon,

Denis
