Default new cuban box seal? (cuban cigars)

I have been buying from hopark cigars in Hong Kong for a couple of
years (probably 12-15 boxes). I have verified the authenticity of all
the boxes I have received in the past, but I just received a box of
Montecristo #2 that seems a little strange. It has a manufacture
date of OCT 03 and a box code of GKI. As a point of reference, I have
another box of Montecristo #2 with a manufacture date of JUL 03 with
the same GKI box code. Here's the issue: the cuban seal is about a
quarter inch narrower on the newer box than on the older, and the
print is substantially smaller. I can still make out the
microprinting on the seal on the newer box, but I am concerned because
I thought all seals were uniform dimesions. Have I been had?

The new seal is narrower than the old ones. I saw this at LCDH TJ.

Enjoy your cigars.

Middle of Sept boxes started showing up with a slightly smaller seal.
Everything that I have from 11/03 and later has the smaller seal. Side
note....you'll never "be had" by JJ and crew. I bet I've bought 30
boxes from them and never anything but great stuff, terrific service.

I'll take your word on this -- so I just placed an order with them.

Ever any problems with deliveries being "intercepted," and, if so, how do
they handle it?

Nope. There are at least four different sized seals of two kinds (self
adhesive or not) used today in Cuba.

No experience in that situation...sorry. But all of the vendors that I
deal with understand that as long as the order is processed on a
credit card the buyer has recourse in the case of delivery failure.

Thanks all for advising on the new seal. I have never had a shipment
from hopark intercepted. Let's just say that they are very good at
packaging... you'll see what I mean when you get your box. Happy
smoking!
