No, this is not party politics though it will probably turn out to be.

I am smokind an LGC, drinking a beer and reading the news.

Total votes in MI show that less than 10% of registered (assuming they are
1/3 of all registered voters) voted in todays primary.

It would be less than 2% that participated in Washington.

That is so pathetic that it should alarm everyone no matter what their
political affiliation.

Have people stopped caring?

I think people are smart eough to realise that it really wont matter wether
a Republican or Democrat is elected. They both will tax. They both will
erode rights. They both are failing to follow he Constitution.

Until another option is available like maybe Libertarians, people will be
defeated by the whole process.

No primary to vote in here in Washington...only neighborhood
caucuses...attended by those who knew where to attend and wanted to
spend the time discussing the candidates with their neighbors.
Personally, I rather just go to a polling place and cast a vote.

Well, it IS the primaries.

Seriously, only 50-60% vote in the real election, when it really means
something. Excuses for not voting in the primary:
1. My one vote won't affect the outcome.
2. The nominee is already decided.
3. Doesn't matter who wins, they're all the same.

I feel fortunate that Wisconsin will have an impact on the Democratic
nominee's selection this time around--either knock out a few people or
invigorate a campaign.

4. What difference does it make? Bush is going to win in November,
anyway...

I never started caring, not about the democrats. They're a boring
bunch of losers, and will continue to be losers.

I am mildly interested in which one of them will lose to George, but
it really doesn't matter all that much.

So, by your own definition, you're a closet democrat, loser.

Might be (and please that I said *might*) that the Democrat voters aren't
especially thrilled with any of their choices and the Republicans don't
see a need to vote when GWB is (for all practical purposes) unopposed.

My state's primary election is just two days away; I'm not even sure that
Tennesse is holding a Republican primary this year, but I'll vote if there
is one just to show my support for Dubya. My mother is a Democrat but
lost interest when Gephardt failed to get any traction; she says she won't
bother voting.

Maybe it's voter fatigue. According to one article I've
read, because the US has more
elective offices than any other country in each four-year
electoral cycle, America holds about one million elections.
That's a lot of decisions to take....
