Padron 6000 (tobacco cigar)
I walked into my cigar store today after work, and was happy to see a lot of
new stock (not an unusual occurance ... he is very well stocked and turns
his stock over quickly) ... a nice supply of Ashton VSG's (picked up a few)
and then my eye fell on a box of Padron 6000's. I picked up a few and
decided to smoke one on the way home.
The pre-light aroma was typical Padron (my favorite non-Cuban) and had that
nice dark, oily maduro wrapper in a torpedo shape. It cut and lit well, and
I was ready. The draw was right about as I like, not too easy, but not an
effort either. The first draw was a bit harsh, but I find that with all of
my Padron's except the 1926's.That dissapeared quicky, and the tobacco taste
was very rich. It was almost a roasted flavor - quite enjoyable. Somewhere
into the second third I got a surprise when the taste of wood came
through.By the last third that taste leveled off and the roasted tobacco
(nutty?) taste took over again. The last third wasn't a bit harsh, and at
about an inch in length, the nicotine kicked in. I was enjoying it and
didn't want to abandon it at this point and continued, but eventually I
reached the point where there was barely any place to hold it any more and I
bade it farewell. An excellent smoke. It's not up to a 1964 or 1926, but an
excellent new addition to the Padron line. It will certainly be a regular in
my stash.
