Default Padron 6000 (tobacco cigar)

I walked into my cigar store today after work, and was happy to see a lot of
new stock (not an unusual occurance ... he is very well stocked and turns
his stock over quickly) ... a nice supply of Ashton VSG's (picked up a few)
and then my eye fell on a box of Padron 6000's. I picked up a few and
decided to smoke one on the way home.

The pre-light aroma was typical Padron (my favorite non-Cuban) and had that
nice dark, oily maduro wrapper in a torpedo shape. It cut and lit well, and
I was ready. The draw was right about as I like, not too easy, but not an
effort either. The first draw was a bit harsh, but I find that with all of
my Padron's except the 1926's.That dissapeared quicky, and the tobacco taste
was very rich. It was almost a roasted flavor - quite enjoyable. Somewhere
into the second third I got a surprise when the taste of wood came
through.By the last third that taste leveled off and the roasted tobacco
(nutty?) taste took over again. The last third wasn't a bit harsh, and at
about an inch in length, the nicotine kicked in. I was enjoying it and
didn't want to abandon it at this point and continued, but eventually I
reached the point where there was barely any place to hold it any more and I
bade it farewell. An excellent smoke. It's not up to a 1964 or 1926, but an
excellent new addition to the Padron line. It will certainly be a regular in
my stash.

Thanks for the review, Mark. The 6000's are the new torpedo's, right?
Holt's had a box of those when I was there a couple of months ago.
They were sorely tempting but I went with a box of Brazilia torp's
instead. Glad to know that these seem to stand up to what a Padron
should be. :-)

Just got one of each and look forward to trying them. The maduros could easily
be mistaken for a natural. Both look great.

Jack, be sure to let us know your take on them, once you've smoked
one.

Smoked one as soon as I got home last night and was not dissapointed.
Typical Padron chocolate/coffee yumminess in a beautiful 5 1/2 inch
Torpedo. This is one of my new favorites.

Tried the natural today, was looking for the super creamy smooth 5000
flavor and actually was pleasantly surprised to get a slightly harsh
(young) full flavored and complex smoke. Shame it was a short pyramid,
I actually kinda liked it. Definitely better than the Zino Platinum
lonsdale whatever hohummer I had right before it, but hey...

Ah shit, I knew someone posted about these, but didn't think I'd find
the thread. Maybe it'll get piggybacked.

Oh and Gee I've never had a maduro 6000...
