Default Rate my Cigars. Newbie Pick (cigars)

Ok. So I finally after smoking a few singles here and there I made the
plunge and went on Holts.com and had cigarafficianado.com in another
window, and literally went down the top rated cigars list and bought 2
of each and a few sampler packs. Let me know how I turned out, if I
bought any particularly bad ones, or if there is a really good on in
the list I got. I bought 2 boxes of Onyx Reserves because I had a few
and they were great and because they were ranked so high I figured it
be good to keep some aging around.

7) Ashton VSG Tres Mystique Natural
40) Onyx Reserve Mini Belicoso
2) La Gloria Serie R #6 Nat.
2) Arturo Fuente 858 Nat.
2) C.A.O. eXtreme Robusto
2) Ashton Cabinet #3
2) La Perla Habana Black Pearl Gran Robusto
10) Romeo & Julieta Cedro Delux #2 Natural
2) Punch Gran Puro Rancho
2) Partagas Black Label Clasico
2) El Rico Habano Maduro

I'll trade you almost anything you want, if you decide you don't like these

"ok", but I'd hate to be sitting on 40 of them. They were once a fave
"chocolaty maduro", but they've since gone weak & pointless :\

You'll love the 1st one, try to show some discipline and save the 2nd
for a year or two, you won't be sorry. Buy a box, while you're waiting

IMO, CAO's best line is Brazillia

I love these. Good, "hard" maduro

depends on the mood.

Another fave maduro

I liked their naturals -- even the "new blend"; I bet their maduros are
good, too.

Wow. people just don't like the Onyx Reserves huh. But didn't it get a
94 rating? I keep a lot more of those lying around because they are
cheap, $3/stick and when I have friends over, those are the ones I hand
out.

On a side note, is the Ashton Tres Mystique suppose to smell skunky? It
smells almost like a 3 day old wet sock. All 6 of them smell that way.

They're ok -- but they got their 94 on the old blend, IMO. Then again,
there's a lot of evidence that one gets a high CA rating by spending a
lot of money in advertising But, again -- the Onyx Reserved USED TO
BE really good then, a few years ago, they went weak. Who knows, maybe
they'll fix it.

You have to keep in mind that a large portion of that rating has been
purchased through advertising dollars.

So I got bamboozled then. Oh well. I'm sure it'll be fine, besides I
particularly enjoy the mild sweet taste of it.

Jonny Ku sez:

Looks like you bought a pretty decent selection, but of course only YOU will be
able to decide if they are good or bad. It doesn't matter what anyone else
thinks of the cigars you buy/smoke as long as you enjoy them.

Of course, if you wanna send some samples my way I'll be glad to offer an
unbiased evaluation of the quality of the smokes.

If you like it, that's all that matters. You didn't get bamboozled if you
bought cigars that you enjoy.
