Review - Bolivar Robusto Crystal (punch cigars humidor)
REVIEWER: Timothy "Texan_To_The_End" Piper
CIGAR: Bolivar Robusto Crystal
SIZE: 5.50 X 50
FILLER: Dom, Nic
SHAPE: Robusto (Tubo)
AGE: Unknown. In my humidor since 2006/05/20
VENDOR: Traded with DRob. (Thanks again!)
AMBIENCE: 6PM. Just got home from work, warm and humid with
very still air.
APPEARANCE: After taking this out of the sealed glass tube, it
presented a smooth oily wrapper, with some slight
veininess. Stick was light in weight and very stiff.
PRE_LIGHT: Smelled very good and dry-draw tasted grassy.
DRAW: A bit tight, but acceptable for the punch. (I punch
most cigars except small ones and if the draw is tight.
FIRST_THIRD: Mmmmmm... Not in taste or flavor, but something in
this reminded me of the AVO I had recently; it almost
forced me to relax.
SECOND_THIRD: How to describe a taste of fermented last- season's
hay in a positive way? <G> This cigar had that taste
with a bit of cocoa and coffee in the background.
FINAL_THIRD: The mild flavors were dynamic and changed with every
few puffs. Most complex taste I've reviewed as of yet.
ASH: Pure white solid ash. Was 2 inches before I broke it.
SMOKE: Good volume of woody grassy smoke.
STRENGTH: Mild getting a bit stronger at the end.
FLAVOUR: Hay, grass, coffee, cocoa...
FINISH: I was going to have a cup of coffee afterwards, but I
didn't want to alter the taste of this stick. It
lasted almost an hour.
SMOKE_TIME: 70 minutes.
IMPRESSION: I've not yet given a "ten" rating to a cigar, but this
came the closest so far. Any cigar that gives me that
intangible something that changes my mood is a very
RATING: 9 out of a possible TEN wooden matchsticks.
COMMENTS: I'll have to try some of these without the glass tube
to see if they have the same flavors. If so I'll be
getting a box! Thanks again to DRob.
