Review: Juan Carlos (tobacco)
For lack of a better name:
Juan Carlos Pulgatorio
Origin: Dominican Republic
Filler: Long leaf blend - Seco, Ligero dominicano, ligero piloto cubano?
Wrapper: Connecticut
Format: Toro
Length: 5 3/4 - 6
Ring: app 50
This was one of three smokes sent to a number of us as a pilot program. I
decided on jc88's recommendation to try the Conneticut wrapper smoke OTT.
Pre-light aroma was solid tobacco. Impeccably rolled with very light veins.
Clean clip and pre-light draw was very good. Fired it up and was rewarded
with volumes of smoke and a rich, albeit mild flavor. The burn was good,
requiring a small touch up along the way. Not bad at all for a stick that's
travelled straight from the DR and bounced around the US for a week or so.
The flavor continued straight through, very un-complex and even, growing a
bit stronger toward the end. No harshness encountered. No nuts, twigs,
berries, leather, cinnamon, vanilla, or horse residue encountered either.
Smoke time, about an hour.
All in all, a very good smoke. Thanks to John and Juan for putting this
together!
