Default Review: Quorum Robusto (cigar)

Cigar: Quorum Robusto
Country: Nicaragua
Size: 4.75 X 50
Wrapper: Natural

I bought this one because I hadn't heard of them. SO I thought for a $1.50
( less if you buy from Holts) I would give it a try.

The wrapper is a marbled looking natural wrapper. It appears fairly well
rolled and packed nicely.
Upon lighting you get a burst of spice. This settles down before the first
half inch into a smooth medium bodied smoke.
I was expecting the usual paper like taste from this you get from many
inexpensive smokes that leaves that little dry spot on the back of your
throat.
However I surprised to find that it smokes quite smoothly and produces a
nice volume of thick , white smoke.
The flavor throughout remains a decent cedar like taste with a slight
sweetness on the palate. None of the flavors really take charge and jump out
at you.
The only flaws I encountered were that it has some empty spots in the
filler that show up as holes as you smoke it and the ash flakes and is
fairly soft. However, neither of these imperfections affect the flavor of
the smoke.
The cigar remained very consistant throughout with no relighting or
corrections required. I smoked it just past the band and it finishes with
just a little kick at the end.
Overall I think that this would make a decent everyday cigar to knock
around the house with. In the end it is what it is. No it's not in a league
with the best...but it is on top of its game with it's $1.00 counterparts.
It was interesting enough to try another. Thanks for reading.

Mike

That should be a RED FLAG.

Thanks for the review!

I wonder if, when buerocracies gather, if someone asks "Do we have a
Quorum?" then, after a few rounds, someone stands up and shouts, with
some urgency "does anyone have a Quorum?!" and, finally, someone
produces a cigar, they all light up, and relax, now that we "have a Quorum"

What Uncle Grumpy means is: that should be like a cigar waving a big RED
FLAG and shouting "over here -- try me! C'mon, you've never had one
before; live a little!"

Unless maybe he means "don't ever do anything you've never done before,
and don't ever try anything you've never heard of, before" -- but that
would be stooooopid!

FYI, Quorum is a mixed filler bundle cigar, sold by J.C. Newman, that is
very mild. They're usually priced a little over a buck a cigar. I know some
people who like 'em, but it shouldn't be too difficult to find a more
interesting bundle cigar in a similar price range that would also be long
filler.

I sampled a Quorum at RTDA a few years ago and the best thing I can say
about it is that it didn't have a bad flavor because it didn't have any
flavor.

Have to agree with you on this. My local shop sells these and they are a
very bland, generic cigar. For the same price, the OFs are far superior.

I don't think that's what he meant at all... It's more like, do some
fucking reading before you go and blow money on something that could
suck. ;-)

Why? It's not like you have to buy a whole box of the inknowns, right?
Why not live life on the edge? Yeah, that the ticket... Light up that
unknown 'gar and if it turns out to be a turd, pitch it and move on!

I will occasionally spring for a box or a bundle of unknowns if the price is
right and they look good. I mean heck, you have to have something to give
to all those OP brand smokers you run into...
