Review: Te Amo Aniversario Vintage 99 (punch cigars humidor)
Review: Te Amo Aniversario Vintage 99
Size: 5 x 52
Cigar Shape: Robusto
Wrapper Type: H2000
Binder: MEX
Filler: DR/MEX/NIC
Tonight, on Mother’s day, I decided to end the day by smoking a gift
from a friend.
He came back recently from Mexico it a box of 5 Te Amo Aniversario
Vintage 99.
Pre light inspection: rock solid construction, all hard all the way.
Smell nice enough. Wrapper is dark brown but not oily, felt smooth and
soft to the touch.
I punch it and tested the draw. Draw was easy, easier than most cigars
I’m familiar with. First light was easy as well, I light it with my
torch, funny thing, it was not burning strait right off the bat. I
thought it would burn uneven all the way, and it did, somehow, there
must have been a vein in the binder that kept the burn uneven, but
nothing dramatic.
As for taste it was woody and leathery as advertise, but not consistent
and not the powerhouse I was expecting. The finish was harsh with an
acrid aftertaste. Sufficient to say, that I did not nub it.
OTOH, they only were in my humidor for a week or two, cello on, maybe
with a year of two in the humidor. :-)
As for the strength I would say medium body, but with a good nicotine
kick at the end. My head is still buzzing from it after an hour.
Hope to read you soon,
Denis
