Default Sippin Makers Mark (cigar cigars habana)

Yet another Saturday Night spent sipping good whisky and wishing i stepped
out for a bit to smoke a cigar. I usually only smoke 1 or 2 a week if
that. I don't smoke in the house, so it's hard for me to find time to
finish a good cigar. Now that it's getting warmer i should be able to
spend some time on the back porch sipping bourbon and smoking a good
stogie.

I noticed a Makers Mark infused cigar yesterday at the local shop and
almost bought it. It had the plastic/wax dripped over the top of the glass
tube and everything. But for 13.75 for a flavored cigar...i wasn't gonna
try it.

Maybe I'll step outside for a bit now and smoke that Indian Tabac Super
Fuerte now that I think about it. It's about 60 out...shouldn't be too
bad.

Anybody have any good suggestions for some good cigars or some good bourbon
I should try? The two go so well together!!! mmmmm...LOL

I'll only have 4 la vieja habana's in the 'dor if i smoke the super fuerte,
boo hoo....and no extra sea gar money for a while. Anybody want to
contribute in this time of need? LOL.

Love the Group

bourbon

I do find bourbon to go better with cigars than scotch, but stop drinking
Makers. I hate that stuff. Even basic Wild Turkey is better than Makers
IMO. I recently scored a bottle of Old Rip Van Winkle 10 year, man is that
stuff nice. I would like to find the older stuff, but good bourbon is hard
to come by up here. There are only 6 kinds stocked in BC, Knobb Creek,
Buffalo Trace (who now makes VanWinkle), Makers, Woodford's Reserve (I like
better than knobb), Wild Turkey & Jim Beam.

In my experience there are two truly great bourbons, Basel Hayden and
Bookers. The rest make good mixers.

I like my single malts and armagnacs, but there's nothing better than two
fingers neat of Bookers with a good cigar. Yum!

I have a bottle of bookers in my collection... However, replacing it may be
near impossible, thus I have not nor will I open it until I have another
bottle in my possession!

Saying that Old Rip Van Winkle 10 year is better than Makers Mark shows no
understanding of the concept of how Bourbon is produced. The 10 year Van
Winkle is mediocre at best and you did not comment on whether you where
referring to the 90 or 107 proof. The fifteen year old is much better. And
if you are lucky enough to get your hands on the 20 and 23 year old Pappy
Van Winkle, both taste incredible. Both the Makers and Old Rip are wheat
whiskeys which make them very similar in taste. For an economical bourbon,
it is hard to beat Old Forrester. One of the best bourbons on the market
which is rarely discussed is the W.L. Weller, an excellent bourbon for every
day consumption.

Try George T. Stagg's bourbon. Pretty damn good. Of course a fine
Havana goes well with any liquor.

bourbon

Maker's Mark is a decent sour mash borbon. Here's are other bourbons:

Don't forget about Jack Daniels Old Number 7, Single Barrel and Gentlemen
Jack Tennessee whiskey when pairing up cigars, also!!

Default Sippin Makers Mark (cigar cigars humidor)

Knob Creek here. Love that bourbon.

On another point, you can easily make your own Makers Mark infused
cigar. Get a tupperware container, orsealed jar, or mason jar, and
put any cigar of your choice in there along with a shot glass of
bourbon, scotch, or anything else. Seal it up, put it somewhere and
leave alone for a month or two. Don't worry about the temperature,
warm is fine. Just don't try this in your humidor. I have tried this,
and Ihave also tried the MM cigars. No real difference.
