especially among children. Studies show that every 10 percent increase in
the price of cigarettes reduces youth smoking by 7 percent and overall
cigarette consumption by about 4 percent."

The price of cigarettes has more than doubled since 1990, when the smoking rate was 26%.
Applying the statement's math, the rate should now be 15%. It is actually 22%

Today it is $4.34. That's 157% increase. According to their math, consumption should have
dropped by 15.7 x 4% = 63%. The smoking rate should now be 10%. It is actually 22%.
