Default Thanks - and a wrapper question

Thanks for the welcome, and of course thanks to all ASC:ers past and
present for the fantastic collection of info and stories this newsgroup
is.

What's the deal with shiny side out vs. dull side out when it comes to
wrappers? Is it purely cosmetic or does it make a difference,
hygroscopically perhaps?

Default Thanks - and a wrapper question (cigars)

Shiny? Dull? I believe that cigars are wrapped with the leaves "top"
side out (top as it grows on the plant) because, even though wrapper
leaves are often selected for fewer and lighter veins, the veins are
even fewer and lighter on that side.

So I guess that'd be a cosmetic reason.
