Default STCN #6 Review - Davidoff Gran Cru #1 (cigar)

Davidoff Gran Cru #1
6 3/32 X 43
Dominican/Dominican/Connecticut Shade
Light body
Good smoke
Great burn
Nice draw
$300/box of 25
Good flavor
Mild strength
Great finish

A very mild yet flavorful cigar that has been around since June of
1999. Like most of the Davidoff I have seen, this one had a smooth
wrapper, wonderful overall construction, and just a joy to look at. I
am seriously thankful someone took the time to make this just for me.
<g> The cigar burned well to the nub. I thought I noticed a particular
sweet or floral flavor when I first lit this up, but it quickly
blended to a wonderful tasting, complex collection with none saying
"hey look at me".

A nice change of pace from what I have been smoking. IMO a wonderful
afternoon cigar. This was very similar to its smaller brother, the
Gran Cru #3, which I show in my notes as "Damn Tasty"<g>

Looking at my notes, this would probably compare to an AVO XO, a
Butera Cedro Fino, or perhaps a Macanudo Robust Hampton Court.

About the only drawback to this smoke is the price. For the same
dollars, I can get a couple of boxes of really tasty contraband.

Absolutely agree -- I very much enjoyed the one you sent me. Not something I
would have bought, but a pleasant and thoroughly enjoyable surprise. A fine,
fine cigar!

Not even just the fact that I have never tried one of these, but I have
never even heard of it.

It takes a good palate to appreciate the Davidoff line. I'm not a fan of
mild cigars but this cigar has complexity despite the mild flavor.
Great review, thanks.
