CAO Brazilia Samba

Wrapper Type: Brazil

Smoke time: 1:45

Last night, I was working on the patio with my computer reading and
cataloguing references for my thesis project. It was a beautiful evening,
with clear sky and just a little breeze.

The cigar was dark and beautifully constructed. Colour and construction were
superb, with no major vein showing, no blemishes and oily to the touch;
smelled a little spicy even before lighting it.

This is a big cigar for me, with its 54 ring gauge, I clipped it a little
and tested the draw, it was a bit tight, and so, I clipped it a bit more...
perfect! :-)

Took my torch to it to toast the foot and it took a while to ignite. On the
first puff, I was rewarded with a huge amount of tasty smoke. Taste was
leathery and cedary, smooth and full. The ashes were firm, even hard to
shake off, it stayed on pass the 1" point with no flakes whatsoever even
with the slight breeze we had that night. The burn was perfect up to the
middle point of the cigar.

That's were this cigar took another personality, almost completely changing
from smooth and subtle to powerful and spicy. At the half point the burn
started to stray, I had to correct it a few time, nothing major, but
annoying nonetheless. The flavour is now more of anis and spices; it almost
stings my lips and tongue. It is long and full in mouth and you can feel the
nicotine buzz coming on fast. At that point I changed from port Wine to
water to sooth my mouth and throat a little.

I let it go at the 1½" mark approximately, I had enough and was raising the
white flag to it.

All in all, it was a good cigar, the change of personality took me by
surprise and I was not ready for such a strong cigar. Having known about it
(I know Google is my friend) I would have selected something else in my humi
for that night.

I give it a "B" on the hexadecimal scale. ;-)

Thanks for your time and patience.

Thanks for the review. Your experience seems to have been similar to mine.
I love the Piranhas in this line, perfect 30-40 minute smoke with great
flavors. I have smoked quite a few of these smaller ones and have found
them to be consistant throughout and most enjoyable. I smoked a Lambada
the other day and it nearly put me on the carpet. Similar flavors to the
smaller Piranha, with more wood and earth. Serious nic kick!

For a while there, you couldn't GET the pirahna. I guess I'll have to buy a
couple single to see how they are. I have been smoking the Gol! size and
really enjoy them.

I like the idea that the piranhas come 25 to the box instead of 20 (like the
others)....

I remember the first one of these that I had, It kicked my a** sooo
hard...had the hic-coughs and head spins for awhile after I set it down.
TimL offered me a Pirana which I have since enjoyed a few of.

Thanks for the review.

A friend gifted me one of these, and now I have a good idea of what to
expect. A big cigar for me as well, so I'm glad to know there are piranhas
out there.
